In this paper we investigate source of increased genetic diversity - one of the most obvious characteristics of domesticated species, leading to a wide range of phenotypic variability (breeds). The hypothesis that we put forward during the course of our studies focuses on transposons and retro-viral elements in the domesticated genomes.
