Dr. Dziedzom K de Souza is a research fellow in the Parasitology Department of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, University of Ghana. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Zoology (Second Class Upper) at the University of Ghana in 2003 and his PhD in Biological Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2011. His interests are in medical entomology, molecular biology, climate change and Geographic Information Systems. Currently, his main research focus involves assessing the transmission of Lymphatic Filariasis, using molecular xenomonitoring methods. Through support from the Centre for Neglected Tropical Diseases (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, Liverpool-UK), he has led entomological investigations, and has been involved in providing training, diagnostics, monitoring and evaluation supportto less developed project countries in Africa including, Liberia and Sierra Leone, Guinea and Ethiopia. His other research interests include malaria and Buruli Ulcer transmission and diagnosis. He has received many local and international competitive awards for young scientists. He is fluent in English and French. He has published many articles in international peer reviewed journals. His research interest includes Molecular Biology of Disease Vectors and Parasites, Lymphatic Filariasis and other Neglected Tropical Diseases, Malaria transmission and diagnosis.
