Viral vaccines contain inactivated viruses and activated viruses .Inactivated or killed viral vaccines contain viruses, they do not have ability to replicate and in order for it to bring about a response it contains more antigen than live vaccines. Activated or live vaccines contain the live form of the virus. These viruses are not pathogenic but are able to induce an immune response. The first human vaccines against viruses were based using weaker or attenuated viruses to generate immunity. The smallpox vaccine used cowpox,a poxvirus that was similar enough to smallpox to protect against it but usually didn't cause serious illness .Rabies was the first virus attenuated in a lab to create a vaccine for humans. There are different types of vaccines like, attenuated vaccines, inactivated vaccines, subunit vaccines, toxoid vaccines, conjugated vaccines,DNA vaccines, recombinant vaccines .
