Xuming Zhang is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He received a Ph.D. from the Justus-Liebig University of Giessen, Germany, and postdoctoral trainings in the Institute of Virology, Free University of Berlin, Germany, Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California. He actively engages in research in the field of virology. His researches are supported by the American Cancer Society and the National Institutes of Health. He has published more than 70 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters and edited a book. He has served as a reviewer for more than a dozen journals and numerous NIH grant review panels.
Coronavirus replication and transcription, virus entry and assembly, virus-host interaction, virus-induced host innate immune response, pathogenesis of virus-induced CNS demyelinating diseases, viral persistence, viral vectors and vaccine development.
