A scientist who develops multimedia computer tools that make learning about food and nutrition easy and fun, Stephen Pintauro is the NFS Department`s resident tech expert. He obtained his PhD degree in Food Science Technology from University of Rhode Island in 1981. He obtained his MS degree in Nutritional Biochemistry from University of Rhode Island in 1978. He obtained his BS degree in Zoology from University of Rhode Island in 1974. Stephen Pintauro`s scholarly interests focus on examining the effectiveness of information technology in teaching and research applications related to the fields of food science and nutrition. Currently, Prof. Pintauro is involved in research examining the effectiveness of Internet support on weight loss and weight loss maintenance and is heading up a USDA-funded project that includes the development of an educational Internet game designed to teach middle-school students about food safety.
