Biography
Professor Mahmoudi completed his undergraduate medical training at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine. Following completion of his junior medical training in London he undertook specialist training in Cardiology in Southampton General Hospital before completing a PhD in vascular biology at the University of Cambridge in 2008. He then completed an 18-month Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at The Washington Hospital Centre, Washington DC, one of the world’s leading centres for interventional cardiology. He was awarded an NIHR Clinical Lectureship at the University of Cambridge/Papworth Hospital prior to his appointment at the University of Surrey and St. Peter’s Hospital.He has been an academic interventional cardiologist since 2012. In addition to general cardiology, he has a special interest in the etiology and treatment of hypertension, coronary atherosclerosis, and intracoronary imaging particularly intravascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography.
