Biography
Melania Amorim holds a degree in medicine from the Federal University of Paraíba (1989), residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at IMIP (1992), master's degree in Mother and Child Health for Mother and Child Institute of Pernambuco (1995) and PhD in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the State University of Campinas (1998). Postdoctoral completed in 2009, also from the University of Campinas. Postdoctoral fellow at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva (2010). It has Specialist in Gynaecology and Obstetrics (TEGO) by tender (1992). He is currently Assistant Professor Dr. of the Federal University of Campina Grande (PB) and professor at the graduate (masters and doctorate) of the Integrative Medicine Institute Prof. Fernando Figueira (IMIP - Recife / PE). Teaches Obstetrics and Gynecology at graduation, is coordinator of the internship Gynecology Medical and teaches the courses "Research Project Planning", "Applied Informatics to Health", "Epi-Info: Advanced Course" and "Health Evidence-Based" in the post -graduation. Acts as technical and scientific consultant in Maternal and Child Health at Health Institute Elpidio de Almeida (ISEA) in Campina Grande - PB, where he coordinates the High-Risk Pregnancy Unit. It is also Coordinator of the Municipal Maternal Death Committee Campina Grande. Core coordinator of midwifery Urbana (Nupar) Network for the Humanization of Childbirth (ReHuNa) in Brazil. It has 36 master's directions and eight doctoral guidelines completed. Guides currently four dissertations and 10 doctoral. Guided 32 students of Scientific Initiation and has four ongoing guidance. He participated in several stalls masters and competitions for university professor. It is part of the Specialized FEBRASGO Committees (Brazilian Federation of Societies of Obstetrics and Gynecology) of "Evidence Based Medicine" and "High-Risk Pregnancy". Also is a member of REHUNA (Humanization of Birth Network) in Brazil and Honorary President of IPESQ (Paraíba Research Institute Prof. Joaquim Amorim Neto). Works in the area of ​​Maternal and Child Health, with emphasis on its research: Evidence-Based Medicine, Humanization of Childbirth, Hypertension and Pregnancy, High-Risk Pregnancy, Fetal Medicine, Maternal Mortality and Gynecologic Surgery. On duty and served as governess of Medical Residence of IMIP between 1992 and 2007, the last five years focusing on the area of ​​the Critical Care Obstetrics. Participates in three research groups registered in CNPq, coordinating the 'Health Study Group of Women "(UFCG). It has 161 full publications and 10 articles accepted for publication in national and international journals as well as several conference papers. She is the author of six books and 24 book chapters. Is part of the chartered body of the Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics (RBGO) and FEMINA, besides acting as ad hoc reviewer for several international journals. Since 2009 is a research associate of the Group of Pregnancy and Birth the Cochrane Library.
