Dr. Le Ru B Current work focuses on Borage Lepidoptera (mainly Noctuidae) whose caterpillars bore into the interior of the stems of Poaceae (Gramineae), Cyperaceae, Juncaceae and Typhaceae. Several species, belonging to the genera Busseola, Sesamia and related genera, are major pests (20% loss on average) of cereal crops in sub-Saharan Africa. The economic impact of each of these species varies across major geographic regions and, within them, across biotopes.
