 Fatma G. Huffman, Chair of the Department of Dietetics & Nutrition, has a long history of conducting human nutrition research with diverse ethnic groups. She has traveled extensively in the Middle East and West Africa, serving as a consultant to USAID. She has won three awards for “Excellence in Teaching”, and two for “Excellence in Research”. She is a professional member of the American Institute of Nutrition and the American Diabetes Association and volunteers for these associations. Huffman’s research interests are type 2 diabetes and coronary artery diseases. Her research has been funded by NIH/NIDDK, the American Heart Association, and the FIU Foundation. Dr. Huffman strives to maintain the high quality of education the Department of Dietetics & Nutrition offers. Customer service with quality education and following accreditation requirements is the goal of the department
