Biography
Duarte Ponte holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Porto in 1976, a PhD in Food Technology from the University of Wageningen, Netherlands, in 1986 and Associate Professor at the University of the Azores in 1990. He was director of the Department of Agricultural Sciences, between 1989 and 1993, and Pro-Rector for the areas of Science and Planning, between 1991 and 1996. He was also regional secretary for the Economy of the Azores Regional Government, between 1996 and 2008, chairman of the Azores Institute of Technological Innovation (INOVA)
