Biography

Dr. Daniel (Dingbo) Lin is an assistant professor in the Nutritional Sciences department in the College of Human Sciences. Lin received his bachelor’s degree in forestry and his master’s degree in plant physiology and biochemistry in China. He then received his Ph.D. from Zhejiang University in biochemistry. He obtained his M.S. degree from Shanxi Agricultural University, Taigu, China in Plant Physiology and Biochemistry and earlier to that he obtained his B.S. degree from Zhejiang A & F University, Linan, China in Forestry. He joined the Human Nutrition department in the College of Human Ecology at Kansas State University where he was a research assistant-professor and a member of the faculty of the Johnson Cancer Research Center. Dr. Lin’s research focuses on bioactive compounds in food particularly in relation to the role carotenoids play in preventing eye diseases caused by diabetes, improving insulin sensitivity in metabolic syndrome and diabetes, and preventing liver disease in obesity. He is known for research with wolfberries, a bright orange-red berry originally grown in China. Dr. Lin has received numerous awards for his work and his research on wolfberries including the Travel Award of the International Conference of Food Science and Technology Innovation in 2012, National Eye Institute Travel Award in 2007 and the Travel Fellowship Award of the American Neurological Association in 2006
