Corilee A. Watters

Biography

She is a Assistant Professor, Department of Human Nutrition Food and Animal Science, University of Hawaii. She was awarded PhD in Nutrition and Metabolism, 2007, University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB. She worked as a Clinical Lecturer, Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia Island Medical Program, Victoria, BC. Dr. Watters participates as a faculty member for student advising.

Research Interest

My research focuses on critical periods in growth and development, where nutritional status has an important effect on clinical outcomes and lifetime risk of disease development. The two periods of time in growth and development which appear to be particularly important in development and continuation of obesity are the perinatal period and adolescence.

In addition, I remain interested in how evidence is applied in practice from research, quality assurance and education perspectives. I work with a number of clinicians on inter-disciplinary projects with nutrition in critical care, pediatrics and surgery.
