Anorexia nervosa, often referred to simply as anorexia, is an eating disorder, characterized by low weight, food restriction, fear of gaini. Anorexia nervosa is a serious psychological condition and a potentially life-threatening eating disorder. However, with the right treatment, recovery is possible. The condition commonly involves emotional challenges, an unrealistic body image, and an exaggerated fear of becoming overweight or obese. It often begins during the teenage years or early adulthood, but it can begin in the preteen years. It is the third most common chronic illness among teens.
