Biography

Dr. Stylianos Fakas is Assistant Professor of Food Biotechnology at Alabama A&M University. He received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. degree from Agricultural University of Athens, Greece and his M.Sc. degree from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. His postdoctoral training was at University of Patras, Greece and at Rutgers University, NJ. His research is on the regulation of lipid biosynthesis in yeast cells utilizing molecular genetics and biochemical approaches. He is a member of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from which he received several travel awards and he is the recipient of Carman Prize in Lipids for excellence in research.
