Najma Sultana

Biography

Professor Dr. Najma Sultana received her PhD in Chemistry from University of Karachi in 1976 (1973-76). She joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Karachi and worked as Professor till the end of 2009. She successfully completed her administrative responsibilities as:- • Chairperson Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Karachi. • Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Karachi. • Director, Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Karachi. She is Fellow of the Chemical Society of Pakistan, a member of Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS), as well as life member of Pharmacological Society of Pakistan. Her research work includes five (5) books, one (1) chapter in a book, (ISBN 978-953-51-0724-8), five (5) patents and 529 international research publications. She also presented her work in around 200 international conferences. She produced Thirty seven (37) Ph.Ds., Forty three (43) M.Phil., Nine (9) M. Pharm and Fifty one (51) M.Sc. theses. She was awarded Presidential Gold Medal for Science and Technology (2007), Research Productivity Award due to International Research Publications in 2011. According to Pakistan Council of Science and Technology, she stands number one among all Faculties of Pharmacy of Pakistan (2007-2013).
