Mariola J Edelmann started her research experience in the field of ubiquitin proteasome system and proteomics in the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, Oxford University, UK. I worked at Oxford University as a research assistant in mass spectrometry and protein biochemistry for over four years.
I also completed my Ph.D. in Clinical Medicine at Oxford University, with my research interests being focused on protein deubiquitination, protein mass spectrometry and host-pathogen interactions.
My research primarily relates to the molecular aspects of the host-pathogen interactions during bacterial infections (Yersinia and Salmonella) and inflammation. I am also interested in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, for instance finding new methods to quantify post-translational modifications and utilizing chemical biology methods to quantify and annotate enzymes.
-protein turnover and ubiquitin proteasome system
- host-pathogen interactions (type three secretion bacteria: Salmonella, Yersinia)
- protein post-translational modifications (ubiquitination, phosphorylation, acetylation, methylation etc.) and their impact on protein function
- proteomics
