Biography

Luke Hesson received his Bachelor degree in Medical Science (BMedSc) from the Medical School, University of Birmingham, UK in 2001 and a Ph.D in Clinical Genetics from the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics, University of Birmingham, graduating in 2005. In 2005 he was awarded the Breast Cancer Campaign UK Team of the Year 2004 Prize with 3 other colleagues at the House of Lords. This was followed by an MRC Career Development Fellowship (2005-2007) at the MRC Protein Phophorylation Unit, University of Dundee, with the world renowned biochemist Professor Sir Philip Cohen. Following this he returned to The University of Birmingham to continue post-doctural research (2007-2009). Currently he holds the position of Team Leader of the Molecular and Cellular Oncology Laboratory, Adult Cancer Program, Lowy Cancer Research Centre, UNSW and Lecturer at UNSW. He is also an active member of the American Association for Cancer Research and is a Cancer Institute New South Wales Fellow.
