Dr. Jillian Banfield, PhD is a prominent geomicrobiologist and biochemist, a University of California, Berkeley Professor, a Berkeley Lab Earth Sciences Division staff scientist.She is awarded PhD in Earth and Planetary Science from Johns Hopkins University in 1990. She is a Professor in the Departments of Earth and Planetary Science and Environmental Science, Policy, and Management. Her research interests are in geomicrobiology - study of how microorganisms shape, and are shaped by, their natural environments. She has extended her valuable service in Earth Science and has been a recipient of many award and grants. Her research experience includes various programs, contributions and participation in different countries for diverse fields of study.
