Biography
Itzhak Brook, MD, MSc is a Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, DC. He is the past chairman of the Antiinfective Drug Advisory Committee of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Dr. Brook earned his medical degree and completed his residency at Hebrew University Hadassah School of Medicine, in Jerusalem Israel, and obtained his masters degree in pediatrics from the University of Tel Aviv in Israel. Subsequently he completed a fellowship in adult and pediatric infectious diseases at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine. A member of more than 20 professional organizations, Dr. Brook is a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the Society for Pediatric Research, and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society.
Research Interest
His research interests include the pathogenesis and therapy of anaerobic and polymicrobial infections including upper respiratory tract infections. Dr. Brook has authored more than 700 publications in scientific journals and 10 textbooks. He is an Editor associate Editor and member of the Editorial Board of several medical journals.
