  Traditionally, the “elderly” are believed to be those individuals age 65 and older. People ages 65-74 years referred to as the "young-old," persons ages 75-84 years as "old," and persons ages 85 years and older as the "old-old". Research on sexuality in the elderly is still rather infrequent. Many older adults are sexually active. Adult females are less likely than humans to have a spousal or other intimate relationship and to be sexually active. Sexual problems are frequent among older adults, but these problems are infrequently discussed with doctors.
