Mr Samer El-Sherbiny had been qualified from Sheffield in 1993, Samer Elsherbiny trained in general surgery, general medicine, accident and emergency and neurology before starting his training in ophthalmology. Having trained in Glasgow and Leeds, he then joined the specialist registrar rotation in the West Midlands and in 2004 was appointed Consultant in the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, with a specialist interest in retinal diseases. Despite this specialist interest, he also continues to oversee a large volume of general adult ophthalmology and is responsible for approximately ten thousand patient episodes annually.
