Biography
Professor Ningli Wang is the Director and the vice president of the eye center of Beijing Tongren Hospital, which is one of the two largest eye centers in China and provides a comprehensive and seamless Ophthalmic Service for 600,000 outpatients and 54,000 surgeries annually. World-class scholarship enhanced by hard gained clinical knowledge helped Wang Ningli gain the position of director at the internationally-renowned eye center of Beijing Tongren Hospital, back in 2002. As a key educator and the President-Elect of Chinese Ophthalmological Society, he devoted himself into ophthalmic practice, teaching, training, blindness prevention and academic research in China and beyond. His past accomplishments and contributions produced significant impact on Chinese Ophthalmology and Asia-pacific region. Prof. Wang is a foresight leader, who serves for a better direction of Chinese Ophthalmology development,a dedicated educator, who give benefits to Chinese Young ophthalmologists,an excellent communicator, who bridges the Chinese ophthalmology with Asia-pacific region and beyond,A passionate student, who always thirst for the unknown and respects for the senior researcher,a merciful physician, who devoted into caring for patients and blindness prevention. A breakthrough came in early 2009 when Wang and his team came up with their “trans-lamina cribrosa pressure difference theory” on open-angle glaucoma (data published in Ophthalmology 2010;117:259–266) . The research result was first published during the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Conference, held in Florida, US, in April 2009. Wang’s American professor from the Shiley Eye Center was impressed, calling it “a milestone paper”. Prof. Wang is the Chinese Ophthalmological Society, President-Elect and Chairman of Chinese Ultrasound Technology Association, Board Member of Asia Oceanic Glaucoma Society and South-east Asia Glaucoma Interested Group. Prof. Wang has published more than 300 articles including 100 SCI journal articles and serves as the society editor of International Glaucoma Review, editorial board member of a few international journals including Ophthalmology, Ophthalmic Research, British Journal of Ophthalmology. He has received a number of prestigious awards including “Outstanding Specialist Award from State Council of China”, APAO “Achievement award” and “Arthur Lim award”.
