Dr. Langis Michaud graduated from the School of Optometry at the University of Montreal in 1986, where there is also obtained a Masters in Physiological Optics (1998). He also holds a 3rd cycle degree from the National School of Public Administration (2006 - public health).
He is a member of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) since 1989 as Ambassador of the Cornea and Contact Lens Section (Dipl) since 1994. He was recognized member of the Scleral Lens Education Society (FSLS - 2010) and British Contact Lens Association (FBCLA - 2013). It is since 2013 president of the College of Optometrists of Québec (regulatory body).
Dr. Michaud is a professor at the School of Optometry at the University of Montreal. He worked there since 2001, clinical specialty contact lenses, and ensures the leading position of contactology department in 2006. In this capacity, he oversees a team of 9 clinicians are consulted by 5,000 people annually. He is also involved in the first emergency eye care and has permits to treat with topical medication.
Dr. Michaud has conducted numerous clinical studies for pharmaceutical companies and contact lenses. He has published numerous scientific articles and is the author of several chapters in books published in Europe.
He is currently involved in a longitudinal study on Fabry disease and various clinical research projects. With its recognized expertise, he is a frequent speaker in Europe and the United States.
