Biography
Ekta Choudhary is an Epidemiologist at the Environmental Health Tracking Branch of the National Center for Environmental Health. From 2009 to 2011, she was an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer at the National Center for Environmental Health, Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta. She received her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Public Health Sciences from West Virginia University (WVU), Morgantown. Before her tenure as a graduate student in Public Health Sciences, Dr. Choudhary was an instructor teaching undergraduates in the Department of Biology at WVU.  At WVU, Dr. Choudhary’s research focused on the epidemiological profile of male sexual violence and long- and short-term mental health consequences of sexual violence victimization. She also worked as an injury risk assessment specialist with the National Park Service, where her responsibilities included developing a risk assessment tool and identifying a mechanism and methodology for collecting injury data. Her current work as an EIS officer at the CDC focuses on emergency preparedness and response, where she responds to outbreaks of environmental etiology and natural disasters and provides epidemiologic expertise.
