His research interest has focused via the field of Low temperature/Environmental Geochemistry. In particular, he is focusing on the physical, chemical, geochemical and biogeochemical processes that govern interactions in environmental systems. Furthermore, he is interested in the management of water and soil pollution the chemical composition of the sea environment, hydro-geochemical processes in freshwaters, geochemical processes in marine sediments and particulate matter, hydrothermal alteration and elemental flux measurements in nearshore and/or offshore marine environments, sedimentology combined with geochemical provenance and geochronology to quantify past and present rates of sediment fluxes, biogeochemical processes at the sediment-water interface in the marine system, environmental uses of clay minerals for the removal of organic and inorganic pollutants by photocatalytic degradation and combined ATR-FTIR and 1H NMR studies in order to delineate the adsorption of bacteria onto different structured clay minerals.
