Biography

Darius M. Moshfeghi, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who is a Professor of Ophthalmology, Vitreoretinal Surgery, at Stanford University School of Medicine and has been practicing since 2002. He practices at the Byers Eye Institute, Horngren Family Vitreoretinal Center, located in Palo Alto, California, where he is actively involved in research, industry collaborations, start-up technology, and clinical studies.

The SUNDROP telemedicine initiative was founded in 2005 by Dr. Moshfeghi to provide quaternary retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) expertise to underserved community hospitals. The SUNDROP telemedicine initiative has served as the model for telemedicine screening progrmas for ROP, and has now been recognized as an acceptable screening modality by the Joint Statement guidelines as of January 1, 2013. We have expanded upon the telemedicine premise with our NEST and GUEST screening programs to further evaluate the utility of telemedicine in pediatric newborn, hematology-oncology, and infectious disease populations.
