Biography

Dr. Sauer earned her Ph.D. from Texas A & M University in Veterinary Microbiology, with an emphasis in canine genetics. She continued at Texas A & M as a postdoc in the Veterinary Integrative Bioscience Program and investigating canine and murine models of mammary cancer. At Baylor College of Medicine, she pursued a second postdoc that focused on microRNAs and murine knockout models. Dr. Sauer joined the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston as a Research Scientist and Scientific Writer for the Center for Translational Injury Research. She is currently an Assistant Professor for the Department of Surgery at the UT Health Medical School in Houston and the Lead Scientific Writer for the Center for Translational Injury Research. Her research focus in on the role of microRNAs in trauma and hemorrhagic shock. She is a member of AMWA, CSE, and TIPPA.
