Dr. Fiona Campbell is a research fellow at the University of Aberdeen Rowett Institute for Nutrition and Health. Dr Campbell joined the Institute in 2007 from the University of Glasgow. A protein biochemist she completed her PhD from the University of Aberdeen in 1998 the research for which she carried out at the Rowett on fatty acid binding proteins in the human placenta. Following this she was awarded a fellowship at the University of Alberta in Edmonton Alberta Canada where she spent three years researching cardiovascular disease. She then returned to Scotland and was at the University of Glasgow for 5 years investigating the use of acute phase proteins to monitor health and developing novel diagnostic tests.
Dr. Campbell current research is focused on characterising specific modifications to blood and vascular tissue proteins that occur as a result of damage caused by metabolic stress and using these to develop biomarkers for monitoring the effects of diet on health.
