Dr. Valeri A Bykov has graduated from Kuibyshev industrial technical school, specialty “machines and apparatuses of chemical productions” and till 1964 he worked as assistant there. From 1964 to 1971 he worked at Kirish oil refinery plant, and from 1971 to 1976 he was director of Kirish biochemical plant. From 1976 to 1979 he was first secretary of Kirish city committee of CPSU, from 1979 to 1985 – head of the sector of microbiological industry in CC CPSU, from 1985 to 1991 – he was minister of medical industry of the USSR. And from 1991 he was head of the department of pharmaceutical technology in MMA named after I.M. Sechenova, director of inter-epartmental research study-methodic center of biomedical technologies and director-general of VILAR. In 1979 he defended PhD thesis on specialty “Biochemistry” and in 1989 – ScD thesis, speciality “Environmental protection and rational use of natural resources”. In 1993 he was elected corresponding-member of RAMS, and in 1997 – academician of RAMS, speciality “Biomedical technology”. In 1998 he was given the title Merited scientific figure of RF. In 2005 he was elected academician of RAAS, speciality – “Plant growing”. V.A. Bykov is an author of 117 inventions and patents, 240 printed works, including monographs and 2 textbooks. He has been working in the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia from 1995.
