Dr. Toru Otake graduated from Tottori University in 1971. In 1971 he joined Osaka Prefectural Institute of Public Health in the field of environmental toxicology. In 1985 he was promoted to Senior Research Scientist in Osaka Prefectural Institute of Public Health in the field of virological study of HIV. He received his Ph.D. from Tottori University in 1989. He demonstrated an inhibitory effect of inositol hexaphosphoric acid (IP6) on the replication of the HIV in vitro. Dr. Otake has published numerous papers.
