Dr. Subhodeep holds an University Assistant/Postdoc B1 post at the University of Veterinary Medicine (Vetmeduni) in Vienna, Austria. He was trained as a Postdoctoral Associate in the pharmacology of G protein-coupled receptors and beta-arrestins at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, United States where he conducted research in the laboratories of Drs. Sudha K. Shenoy and Robert J. Lefkowitz (Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, 2012). Subhodeep earned his Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Molecular Pharmacology in 2010 from the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. His doctoral research in the laboratories of Drs. Michael Freissmuth and Harald H. Sitte focused on binding sites of antidepressant and substance abuse drugs on pre-synaptic high-affinity membrane transport proteins of the neurotransmitter:sodium symporter (NSS; solute carrier 6, SLC6 gene)-family. Subhodeep read towards a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Biotechnology from the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, India in 2007 during which he was an Indian Academy of Sciences Undergraduate Research Fellow at the Indian Council of Medical Research.
