Biography
Gian luca Salvagno, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Clinical Chemistry at University of Verona. Prof. Salvagno earned his MD from the University of Verona and completed a residency in clinical chemistry at the University of Verona. He followed a PhD program in in Medical, Clinical and Experimental Science. He has been visiting Scientist at Lund University from 2005 to 2007 under the supervision of Prof. Erik Berntorp and Prof. Björn Dahlbäck, performing research in area of hemostasis testing, specifically on thrombin generation and Protein C system. In 2007, he has completed residency training in Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine at Verona University, under the supervision of Prof. Gian Cesare Guidi and Prof. Giuseppe Lippi, with special focus on coagulation testing and preanalytical variability. His major research interests include biomarker validation and preanalytical variability of laboratory testing, especially studying the effects of hemolysis on a number of assays, and examining interfering substances for tests. His research interests also include development and validation of novel clinical assays, evaluation of assay performance. He is currently the co-author in 270 peer-reviewed articles listed in PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science, and his H-index is 42.
