Pragmatic clinical trials: Hope or hype

March 28-29, 2019 Osaka, Japan

Jacob Joseph

Harvard Medical School, USA

Keynote: J Clin Trials

Abstract :

Traditional clinical trials are cost and resource intensive and create significant burden on patients and investigators. There is an urgent need to enhance clinical trial efficiency while limiting study cost and complexity. Electronic Medical Records (EMR) are a potential avenue to improve trial efficiency and render clinical trials pragmatic. In this talk, Dr. Joseph will describe innovative approaches such as EMR-based subject recruitment and follow-up that will make clinical trial conduct more efficient and pragmatic and discuss how they could potentially advance therapeutic discovery and enhance the uptake of novel therapies in clinical practice.
