Abstract :

Introduction: Fibroid uterus is the commonest benign tumor of uterus, requiring operative treatment like Hysterectomy & Myomectomy Material and methods: Study conducted at department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Mamata general hospital , Khammam from Sep. ? 2011 to April ? 2012 Results: 50 cases were studied Operative time, bladder & ureter injury, blood loss, and need for blood transfusion in surgeries for leiomyoma was increased when compared with other conditions for Hysterectomy Intra mural fibroid 21, intramural with subserosal fibroid ? 5, intramural with submucosal fibroid ? 4, submucosal fibroid ? 5, subserosal fibroid -9, cervical fibroid ? 5, parasitic fibroid ? 1. Conclusion: Leiomyoma uterus offers challenges to the operating surgeon due to with varied growth in the pelvis and abdomen resulting distortion of normal anatomy, Surgeon needs to be well versed in the anatomical location of bladder and ureter as they are more likely for injury. Myomectomy is on integral part of the surgery to restore normal anatomy and minimize operative injury to surrounding structures
