Abstract :

Congestive heart failure in newborns and children may have a myriad range of manifestations and be quite subtle in the early phases. This talk will discuss the challenge of early diagnosis of CHF in newborns and children (i.e. diagnosing before the child is critically ill so that there is time to plan management electively). It shall also cover the principles of physiological classification of structural heart disease and management, basic principles of inotrope use and timing of surgical interventions.

Biography :

Usha Pratap MD MRCP have done her MD in Paediatrics 1986-Devi Ahilya University Indore, MRCP Paediatrics from Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh, 1999. Her paediatric cardiology training was from London and Southampton. She is working exclusively as a paediatric and fetal cardiology consultant from 2003 in my current position.
