Dr. Ranjan Bandyopadhyay is Assistant Professor in the Department of Hospitality, Recreation, and Tourism Management at San Jose State University. Ranjan obtained his Ph.D in Tourism with a minor in Cultural Anthropology from Penn State University, and holds an MBA in Marketing & Finance from India.Previously, he taught at the Nottingham University Business School, UK. His research is inherently inter-disciplinary in nature and research interests include anthropology and sociology of tourism, visual culture, politics of representation, sex tourism, ethics, social justice, religion, heritage, national identity, nostalgia, diaspora, transnationalism, festivals and events. His several articles have appeared in Annals of Tourism Research; Journal of Tourism & Cultural Change; Tourism, Culture & Communication; Tourism: An International Interdisciplinary Journal; Journal of Sustainable Tourism; Peace Review: A Journal of Social Justice among others and he serves on the editorial board of several journals.
