Associate Professor Pongkiat Kankirawatatana, received his medical degree from Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand in 1984. He underwent pediatric neurology training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC. Afterward, he finished his clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy training at the Cleveland Clinics Foundation in 1993. After he finished his traing in Cleveland, Dr. Kankirawatana went back to join the faculty at Siriraj Medical school, Mahidol Unviersity until 2001 before moving back to the University of Alabama at Birmingahm to establish the pediatric epilepsy surgery program there. He is now the medical director of Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery Program at the Childrens of Alabama Hospital at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, AL. He is serving as an editorial member of several reputed journals such as Journal of Pediatric Epilepsy.
His research interest is in clinical research in pediatric epilepsy surgery.
