Sandra Costa was born in Portugal and soon she was attracted by new technologies. She have a graduation in Industrial Electronics Engineering and Computers, as well a master degree, with a thesis entitled "Robotics in Autism Therapy", in University of Minho. Now, in her PhD degree she is continuing to research on the same theme, trying to develop a robotic platform to increase Human-Robot Interaction with children with Autism.
For several years, Sandra Costa appreciated their extracurricular activities, being involved in Girl Guiding (Associação Guias de Portugal), in sports (Women Soccer in Casa do Povo de Martim, 1st National Division), for five years she was the representative of their class with the Academic Association of University of Minho, and more recent she was co-founder of the Portuguese Section of the IEEE Women in Engineering group.
