Dr. B.L. Slomiany is a Professor in the Department of Oral Biology. He received his Ph.D. at the New York Medical College, NYC, Department of Biochemistry in 1971.
His overall research is in the Biology and function of salivary and gastrointestinal secretions; structure, macromolecular organization, and the role of mucus in mucosal defense. His studies include molecular aspects of oral and gastric mucosal injury and repair, H. pylori and gastric disease, gastric and oral mucosal inflammatory responses to bacterial lipopolysaccharide signal transduction; biochemical pharmacology of NSAIDs and antiulcer agents.
