    It is generally accepted that effective management of a company's human resources is a crucial function for any business. Businesses need to be able to adapt to the shifting demographics of their customer base and the increasing expectations placed on their employees to endure over the long term, compete successfully on a global basis and hold on to their most talented employees. If one wishes to continue to be competitive, further things like this need to be done. Human resource management's four prongs to tackle this issue are recruitment, training, promotion and retention.
