Dr. Oliver Grace is a distinguished professor in the Department of Chromatography at UNSW Sydney. Renowned for his expertise in separation science, Dr. Grace has made significant advancements in high-performance chromatography and its applications in pharmaceuticals, environmental science, and advanced materials research. Dr. Grace earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Melbourne and completed his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry at Imperial College London. His doctoral research focused on developing novel methodologies for multidimensional chromatography, significantly improving the separation and analysis of complex chemical mixtures. Following his Ph.D., Dr. Grace conducted postdoctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley, specializing in coupling chromatographic systems with advanced spectrometric techniques. Since joining UNSW Sydney in 2011, Dr. Grace has led pioneering research in chromatography, with a particular emphasis on sustainable and high-efficiency techniques. His work has contributed to the development of innovative stationary phases, faster separation processes, and environmentally friendly chromatographic methods. He has also been at the forefront of applying chromatography to solve real-world challenges, including drug discovery, pollutant analysis, and food quality assurance. Dr. Grace has authored over 150 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals such as Journal of Chromatography A, Analytical Chemistry, and Nature Communications. He is the editor of the textbook Modern Advances in Chromatographic Techniques, a widely used resource in academic and professional circles. His research contributions have earned him several prestigious awards, including the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) Analytical Chemistry Award and the International Chromatography Society (ICS) Excellence in Research Medal.
