Biography
Dr. Ramin Sedaghati is a full professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, at Concordia University and a member of Concordia Center for Advanced Vehicle Engineering (CONCAVE). He received the B.Eng. and the M.A.Sc degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology , Tehran in 1988 and 1990 respectively and his Ph.D degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Victoria , British Columbia in 2000. After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Sedaghati was awarded NSERC Post-Doctoral Fellow and worked in the Canadian Space Agency , Spacecraft Engineering Branch, Saint-Hubert, Quebec. In August 2001, Dr. Sedaghati joined Concordia University as an assistant professor and then became associate professor in 2006 and promoted to the rank of full professor in 2011. Dr. Sedaghati is currently a registered professional engineer (PEO), fellow of the Canadian Society of Mechanical Engineering (CSME), fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), senior member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and serves as the associate editor of the Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures (JIMSS). Dr. Sedaghati’s main areas of expertise are: Smart materials and structures specially Magneto-rheological (MR) and Electro-rheological (ER) fluid based adaptive structures; vibration analysis and vibration control using smart materials; passive and semi-active energy absorption systems; structural design optimization and computational mechanics (finite element method).
