Dr. Haofeng Chen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, UK. He has also been appointed or awarded as a Visiting Professor to the East China University of Science and Technology, the Royal Academy of Engineering Senior Research Fellow, Associate Editor of the ASME Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology, Fellow of The Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, ASME Member and Chartered Engineer.
Dr. Haofeng Chen research interests centre on the development of novel numerical methods on structural integrity and life assessment of mechanical structures subjected to cyclic thermal and mechanical loads. These include mathematical and numerical modelling for a wide range of cyclic material responses and failure mechanisms including shakedown, ratchetting, fatigue and high temperature creep, and also the development of the Linear Matching Methods for structural integrity assessment.
