  Culture and tourism have a mutually beneficial relationship which can strengthen the attractiveness and competitiveness of regions and countries and culture is increasingly becoming an important element of the tourism product, which also creates distinctiveness in a crowded global marketplace. Regional attractiveness and competitiveness are directly linked and countries and regions increasingly have to compete to attract residents, visitors and inward investment.
