Biography

During the postdoctoral research fellowship, I develop a project about the effects of stable knockdown of HIF-1  or HIF-2 in advanced CRC, using cell lines. We found that malignant cells exhibit high basal levels of autophagy and the HIFs proteins, compared with control non-malignant cells. HIFs depletion alone resulted in increased autophagic and apoptotic cell death, indicating that survival of colon cancer cells is HIF-dependent.
