Pornsak KHORTWONG, Regional Health Officer- IFRC Bangkok Regional Office, studied and obtained Master of Science (Public Health) and PhD in Tropical Medicine (Epidemiology) at Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. He has over 18 years’ experience in Public Health Program and Project Management, Design & Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation for the projects under the support from The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB & Malaria- GFATM, WHO and AusAID/DFAT. His main fields of interest are public health in emergency, humanitarian aid/ assistance and disaster & emergency management, communicable diseases, Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, community health program, health promotion and health education. He has coordinated both international and national public health system management projects on health and community system strengthening issues. He has involved widely in several aspects of public health programs in providing the support and assistance for vulnerable populations and those in needed.
• Program/ Project Management/ Design & Planning : Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB & Malaria. • Monitoring &Evaluation System & Data Management (Baseline, Mid-term & Final evaluation). • Result-Based Management, Performance-Based Funding, Theory of Change & Results Chain. • Public Health (Epidemiology , Health Education, and Disease Control). • Research (Epidemiology, KAP survey, Surveillances, DOTS approaches). • Policy advocacy, HSS and community participation and social mobilization. • Program development for the most at risk population (prisoners, refugee, homeless, hill tribes, TB/HIV patients & MDR-TB patients, victims, the poor, stateless, migrants, unrested & tsunami affected areas).
