Biography

Dr. I Polishuk is from The Faculty of Engineering , The Department of Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev - Chemical Engineering - Beer-Sheva - Israel ISRAEL. Since discovery of the famous Maxwell's relationships postulating the mutual metamorphoses of thermodynamic properties, the idea of the universally precise analytical equation predicting the entire data sets of real substances and their mixtures has virtually become a thermodynamic Lapis Philosophorum. Although the genius findings and outstanding breakthroughs, this Magnum Opus has never been completed. However the eternal fundamental research unavoidable evolves into fruitful practical outcomes. Thus, in the nowadays highly competitive world, the process design market often prefers the easily accessible (although not always precise) computations rather the expensive and time-consuming measurements. Consequently, my current scientific interests are focused upon derivation and implementation of models for predicting thermodynamic data necessary for process design, particularly in the petroleum industry. My scientific credo is approaching the thermodynamic "Magnum Opus" from the practical side, while keeping in mind that the only credible access to the "Lapis Philosophorum" is trough the fact that all thermodynamic properties in the entire phase-space are closely inter-related. Hence, at the early stages of my research under the PhD supervision of Professor Jaime Wisniak (Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel) and the post-doctoral supervision of Professor Juan H Vera (McGill University, Canada) this credo has led me to work on the concept of the Global Phase Diagrams, while transmitting this virtually intangible fundamental approach into a useful chemical engineering tool, yet becoming increasingly popular in the phase equilibria community. Later on, while establishing the own research laboratory at the Ariel University Center of Samaria, Israel, I have got involved into ongoing investigation of the statistical mechanics-based molecular approaches and their implementation in chemical and petroleum engineering.
