Dr. Helle Bielefeldt-Ohmann is a veterinary pathologist focusing on the pathogenesis of infectious diseases, in particular zoonotic diseases and virus infections causing neuropathology. Dr. Bielefeldt-Ohmann is championing the use of ‘natural animal models’ for studies of infectious diseases of importance to both human and animal health as part of the concept “One World Medicine”.Her current research activities are mainly focused on the pathogenesis of flavivirus-induced encephalitis and foetal encephalopathy, melioidosis and tuberculosis.
