Abstract :

ReLEx smile is a flapless, all in one refractive laser procedure, where a three dimensional lenticule is cut within the corneal stroma using the Zeiss VisuMax femto-second laser. The refractive error is corrected when the lenticule is removed through a minimal (2 mm) superior placed corneal incision. We started performing ReLEx smile in 2010 and obtain strong achieved-attempted SEQ correlations (R2 approximately 0.97) after smile in the full range of myopia and astigmatism, and our necessary retreatment rate is low (<2%). Today the procedure is â??state of the artâ? in Denmark, and our latest smile results and special cases are presented, and the advantages and downsides of the procedure are discussed.
