Abstract :

Refractive cataract surgery is the trend of future with more and more cataract patients prefer or even demand partial or complete spectacle independence after cataract surgery. This presentation reviews all the modalities approved by FDA and currently used by US cataract surgeons, including toric implants, limbal relaxing incision, multifocal IOLs, accommodating lens, extended depth of focus IOLs (EDOF) and femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery (FLACS). The presentation will also demonstrate why IOL mono-vision should be considered as the foundation of modern refractive cataract surgery. Advantages and disadvantages of each modality will be reviewed.
